Biography: Eric A. Espinal, M.D.
Dr. Espinal attended medical school at Northeastern Ohio Universities’ College of Medicine. A native of the Akron area, he continued his training as a resident in general surgery at Summa Health System (Akron, Ohio). He subsequently completed a residency in cardiothoracic surgery and heart-lung transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Espinal was instrumental in bringing minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery to the Akron area and is a nationally recognized leader in minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery techniques. New procedures pioneered by Dr. Espinal and his team in the Akron area include the following:
